Hi Reader, Have you ever been able to NOT stop thinking about something but life and circumstances keep you from taking action? That's what most of 2025 was for me. As this year ends, life has, for the most part, returned to my new normal. I've started to put many of my thoughts and ideas related to my business, The Ruffled Purse, into a plan of action for the upcoming year, and I can't wait to share them with you in the coming months. If you find yourself in a situation where life has derailed your sewing and quilting, know that this season of life will eventually pass. If you can't summon the energy to do the making that once brought you joy, know that thinking and dreaming about what you will make in the future can sustain you during difficult circumstances. There were many days when I would flip through books and patterns, move my fabric around, or look at UFOs (both mine and my mother's) knowing that I didn't have the bandwidth to do more than look, touch, and dream. For a long time, this was enough. When life has seemed to crush your sew-jo, and sucked your energy, I promise that the day WILL come when your mind and body unite again and you realize the day has come when you can't NOT sew. Hang in there. (To read why 2025 was so difficult, check out the Snappy Scissors newsletter from October 2024.) 2026 sewing projects printableSince 2021, one of the most popular freebies on The Ruffled Purse website is the My Sewing Projects printable. I've added to it over the years, and it's now a 6-page document. You can use it in multiple ways to motivate and inspire you to accomplish what you want with your sewing and quilting. You can:

Let 2026 be your best sewing year ever. 2026 scrap summit waitlistFeedback from the 2023 and 2024 Scrap Summits were so amazing, I knew I wanted to host another one. I just wasn't sure when. With the return of my sew-jo and the personal challenges of 2025 behind me, I've been making notes and planning for the third Conquer Your Fabric Scraps Summit! This free online event will focus on all things fabric scraps. You'll learn:
While the exact dates haven't been set, my Scrap Summit will take place the first week of November 2026 to correspond with the Modern Quilt Guild's International Scrap Sorting Day. The MQG's scrap sorting day is something I discovered this year and it seems to be an annual one day event. I've been struggling to determine a date, but when I saw an IG post about MQG's annual day, something clicked in my brain to host my free online event around the same timeframe the international day of scrap sorting is taking place. I'll be mentioning the Scrap Summit in my upcoming newsletters, but to make sure you receive notification when registration to the free event opens, I encourage you to add yourself to the waitlist and mark the first week of November on your calendar.
One more thingSnappy Scissors newsletters will be happening regularly again. Yay! I only managed to send four newsletters in 2025 counting this one, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in 2026. You can expect them one to two times a month around the beginning/end and middle of each month. These newsletters provide highlights from The Ruffled Purse as well as other sewing-related information to support, empower, and inspire your sewing and quilting adventures. In between those monthly newsletters, I may also send you emails about any new sewing events or opportunities I have going on or have heard about. Whether you're new to the Snappy Scissors newsletters, or have been around a while, thank you for allowing me into your inbox. It's an honor to share the joy of sewing, quilting, and fabric scraps with you. 🥰 That's all for now. Until next year... P.S. Are you new to the Snappy Scissors newsletter? You can check out past issues HERE. |
Whether you are brand new to sewing, have been at it a while, or took a break and are getting back to it, I can help. As the sewist, quilter, and content creator at theruffledpurse.com, my goal is to support, empower, and inspire quilters and sewers to organize and take control of their time, space, and resources so they can spend more time making and creating.
Hi Reader, Have you ever felt like you're living in a fog? I have felt like that for the past 12 months. Handling my mother's estate required a lot of mental bandwidth. I wasn't prepared for how much was involved to wrap up someone's life. Everything has seemed like a struggle. That's the main reason why you haven't received a newsletter from me since May. It's been almost a year since she passed away, and during this time, I unintentionally put sewing on hold as even the simplest projects...
Hi Reader, Holy cow! The last Snappy Scissors newsletter I sent was in January. I knew it had been a while, but didn't realize it was that long ago. Going through my mother's things the first few months of the year in preparation for an estate sale, took a huge chunk of my mental energy, leaving little bandwidth for anything else. The estate sale was March 28-31, and it was a huge success. (The sale is over, but you can click here to see what amazing collections my mother accumulated over the...
Hi Reader, There hasn't been a lot of sewing going on in my space during the last month or so. Instead, I've found myself in a season of sorting and purging. With my Mom's passing in September, I inherited her entire stash. My sister doesn't sew, so it has been my responsibility and pleasure to go through every box, bin, shelf, and closet and see Mom's sewing history and legacy. With only so much space in my home, there is no way I can combine her entire stash with mine, so I've been sorting...
